Location of the haunted place: Hathersage, Derbyshire.
Origin of the haunting: 14th Century
Background of the haunted place: Highlow Hall was the seat of the Eyre family. Nicholas Eyre, the founder of the dynasty, married in 1340. This is his sister-in-law's story.
Ghost story: I had hoped to be his wife, but he rejected me in favour of my younger sister. I did not blame her; I know she loved him. The humiliation and sadness were too much for me, so I killed myself. I visited Nicholas a few years later and warned him that the Eyre family would prosper but only for fourteen generations.
My prophecy came true, for in 1842 the Eyre family were forced to leave Highlow. I am the white lady who still visits the house occasionally.
